A trip to a local nursery yesterday yielded a few new herb friends for
various garden beds in the yard, and being the plant-obsessed person I
am, I had to take pictures of almost all of them.
I wasn't aware of St. John's Wort being tasty to bunnies, but it was only in the ground for about ten minutes before our resident baby bunny frantically devoured most of the small plant. The remnants (below) have been tucked inside a chicken wire cage to hopefully grow back, and I'm happier knowing that our bunnies are no longer suffering from what must have been a crippling depression.
The Solomon's Seal I got as a trade a few years back comes up a little more each year, and I've divided it into three areas, and it seems happy in all of them. I just love the stuff!
As the lilacs give their all and quickly fade to memory, so time will turn to the glory of other flowers, like my Black Lace Elderberry, which will be admired for exactly 1.35 days, at which point every exquisite panicle will be promptly decimated by whatever a-hole birds eat elder flowers.
Confession: Sometimes I start these posts with the idea of using them
like a free therapy session, cleverly tucking my angst amongst the
pretty pictures, like maybe no one will notice or something. But then
sometimes I get started on some long-winded explanation of, say, why I
am terrible businesswoman, or mother, or wife, or woman, or human -- and
then I think better of it and scrap the whole thing for something less
awful.
But being who I am of course, I save all that crap in a draft so I can go back and read it again and again and remind myself of what a ridiculous cartoon character of a person I have become. ;)
