Gorgeous, cold day. But no wind + warm winter sun made for a nice, albeit short, walk. I had to do some serious hand acrobatics to keep blood circulating in my fingers (incidentally: suggestions for actual warm winter gloves I could still use my hands while wearing are more than welcome), but my toes stayed relatively toasty in my boots, so that was a win. At one point, I thought I spotted some chaga on a sweet birch, but then I was pretty certain it was a cherry burl, so
then I had a little self-deprecating chat regarding my complete lack of true knowledge about all things nature, and really, what would I do if I lost the internet tomorrow and had to rely on my limited knowledge and the few books in my library? Well I would die, that's what. Then I had a good chuckle and enjoyed some hot chai from my new mug.
